KATHRYN WHITNEY, EDM, RYT, CLC
Wise. Authentic. Quick-witted. Lighthearted. Kind. Ferocious. Loving. Quietly confident. Never preachy. Kat's a wholesome badass who walks the walk of āchārya (instructor in spiritual matters) but lives grihastha (literally "devoted to family and home") just like the rest of us. A kind and gentle ear to truly listen and hear you while providing support, space and strength, Kat hones the tools you already have and offers effective new skills so you can do the work yourself.
Formerly the director of Bikram Yoga Ipswich and Ipswich River Yoga in Ipswich, MA, Kat has served as the managing partner at Ananda Shanti Yoga in Manchester by the Sea, MA, a senior instructor at Zen Athletica in Boston, Yoga Sakti in Salem, MA, Treetop Yoga in Gloucester, MA and Yoga GB in Great Barrington, MA. She holds an M. Ed. from Harvard University where she did research in ADD/ADHD. Mama, yogini, lifelong equestrian and snow-seeker, Kat shares yoga as a tool for living powerfully with a naturally busy human mind and a body that craves optimization of its kinesthetic blueprint. With almost 30 years of personal yoga practice and 20 years as an instructor, Kat writes and educates about life, wellness, yoga and the dharma via her blog, social media, weekly classes, integrative workshops and Yoga Alliance™ certified yoga teacher trainings.
